Fogleman Had Best Car Ever at Salem
July 1, 2008
Jay
Fogleman had the best car he's ever had at Indiana's Salem Speedway
for the June 28 running of the USAR Hooters Pro Cup Northern
Division Lucas Oil 200 presented by Touchstone Energy.
Unfortunately for the short-track veteran from Durham, N.C., the
engine in his Speedco/The Works/JFco Motorsports Ford Fusion No. 4n
expired after only 10 laps.
"I was looking forward to a good run," said Fogleman, who
qualified seventh. "Salem's a track that I never really could
get comfortable on in the past. The race always gets down to
survival of the fittest. (Crew chief) Darin Odle and the team hit
upon some stuff that made the car drive extremely well,
unfortunately we never got to show it."
If there's a bright side it's that problems such as the engine
failure at Salem are happening early enough in the season to be
resolved well before the Championship Series. But Fogleman would be
happier if the problems never surfaced at all.
"We're
looking forward to representing The Works Clean Team a lot better
than we did at Salem," Fogleman said. "If the engine
hadn't blown we were going to be extremely competitive; we're going
to fix that problem."
