SOUTH
BOSTON
PRESS
RELEASE
April
17, 2007
It was a beautiful day in
South Boston
on April 13th as the team unloaded the Jegs/Speedco
Chevrolet with great excitement as they prepared to go head to head
for the first Hooter’s Pro-Cup Northern Division season opener for
2007.
On Friday, during early practice, and without having made any
adjustments, the car placed in the middle of the speed charts.
As the day went on, and having made a few adjustments, the
team found the Jegs/Speedco Chevrolet
had moved to 2nd place on the charts.
As many Southern Division drivers invaded the opening race,
bringing with them fierce competition, the team was thrilled after
slipping only 2 spots to fourth place by the end of the first
practice round. Everyone
was excited about what great possibilities lay ahead for race day on
Saturday.
Saturday began just as Friday ended. Driver,
Gary St. Amant told the crew that the
car was very good and we sailed through the final practice focusing
on race strategy and set-up. Qualifying
6th confirmed the team’s belief that the Jegs/Speedco
Chevrolet was in top racing form.
“Our goal was to get out of
South Boston
with a solid run and clean race car,” said Crew Chief, Darin Odle.
That goal was reached as
Gary
drove the Jegs/Speedco Chevrolet to a
very impressive 5th place finish.
Driver, Gary St. Amant, said
“With drivers from the Northern and Southern Division competing in
this race, I feel that our team can get a clear picture of what lies
ahead for us as we race toward the Championship Series title.”
After finding themselves 3rd in the point standings,
everyone on the Jegs/Speedco team are
excited about the possibilities of the new partnership in the ’07
season!
